According to Dr, Bates we must not wear glasses. If somebody has a high degree of myopia or astigmatism or ....whatever , if he or she takes off glasses, in an effort to see, this will cause eyestrain. people have a tendency to TRY to see if something is not clear or blurry and "trying to see " becomes automatic. This cannot easily be avoided.
In addition many times we look something we like ,different parts of it.People don't always stare. i don't think i stare. But when i move my eyes i don't move my head.So head must move along with eyes?
I like to read on bed.IS it bad? i like it. ANd we must not read with low lighting isn't it?
Thanks again. Iro

Bates once asked a young boy what he did that gave him his clear eyesight? The boy said he 'did nothing'. (Just stopped glasses.)

The head usually moves with the eyes. This is good central-fixation; Example; want to see something to the left; turn and face it, so it's in the central field, which is clearest; better than 20/20.

The central field is always moving, it goes where your looking.
Moving your head/face with the eyes prevents tension in the eye muscles and it improves your convergence, fusion.., both eyes fovea's moving together, looking at the same object.

Try facing straight ahead with the eyes looking at a object far right >. Note the tension. Now turn the head, body with the eyes to face that object. Note the relaxation.

Sometimes the head movement is small or barely noticed. When I watch tv at night my head moves larger if my eyes move across the entire screen, but the head also does small and sometimes very subtle movements with eyes. Head movement on small parts of small objects can be almost imperceptible.

Shift left and right on a small period. Note if you allow a tiny, tiny movement of the head, 'no longer than the shift of the eyes' from one side to the other side of the period; its easier.

This is really a automatic thing. Don't 'try' to do it. Let it occur naturally, automatic. Just face what you are interested in.

Some natural vision teachers taught me to always close the eyes if you daydream. I disagree with this; as long as your eyes move with the internal thoughts, images and your relaxed, happy, I have only noticed clear sight from this. Like fantasizing about something happy or planning something... while looking at the clouds, trees, the eyes-vision move upon them automatically. My attention will drift back and forth from the fantasy in my mind to the tree, leaves blowing in the wind, clouds moving. Sometimes I mix in the fantasy with the clouds; making believe a hole in the clouds with light on the other side is a secret gateway to heaven and I'm traveling through it. Children have done this naturally since beginning of time. Laying on a grassy hill, looking at the sky, watching airplanes. In a tree playing secret agent, spying on the neighbors.

Reading in bed is fine. Keep good posture; use a book holder so your head, neck is not bent down.
Bates says low light is ok, as long as no effort to see. I always use good light but I also take some time out to practice with the fine print in the sunlight and also see how well I can do it in low light.
You need enough light to activate the eyes cones because in very dim light the cones shut off so you have no central vision, only peripheral.
